Gotta split for the day. Thanks all.

Odd.

Ok, I'm about to just do the upgrade and hope for the best. As far as you know I shouldn't have a problem with losing my entries? Correct?

I stress the, shouldn't.

I will.

The paFileDB thing seems to offer no option to do backups.

I did download the phpmyadmin but once it unzipped, I couldn't find a install or setup file. Just a bunch of files. No clue what to do with that. Hmmm.

Ok. I hear ya.

By the way, I got this response:

Thank you for contacting online support.

At this time, there are no plans to change the version of Serendipity being offered. As we highly value your ideas, I will forward your information to our developers for consideration. Please feel free to e ...

Ok. This one says I can do what you've told me to do so I'll give it a try. I do have my entries backed up elsewhere so if all else fails, I can always reinsert them manually. That's how they all got there in the first place.

Thanks again. I'll really try to not have any more questions on this ...

Grrrr. Seems my Serendipity database files are not a MySQL thing. That of which I know nothing about.

I certainly will tell them to update it. It all makes sense now why I'm so out of date.

I'm figuring out how to do a MySQL Database backup with them right now. Wish me luck. Hehheh.

Ok, I see Garvin said on the topic, "If you already have content in your godaddy install, you should try to make a database dump before!"

I'm very new to weblog software so forgive me if this sounds naive, but how do I do a database dump?

Export entries?

I did that and got a page of everything ...

Holy smokes. I see I'm using Serendipity 0.8.2!

I suppose I should upgrade to 1.0.1

My question in doing this is, how do I assure all of my entries will not be lost?

Sorry I'm such a 'lost in the past' pain in the kiester.

I've also done many alterations to my style.css file for my template. I ...

Now, where to get the updated one. I don't see it available in there anywhere.

Apparently I'm using an older version because what you two are saying should be there is not. Where do I see what version I have? That doesn't seem to be anywhere either.

Carl,

Do you mean in the Administration Suite? Under 'Configure Plugins' then 'Event Plugins' comes 'Spam Protector', I see nothing that says anything about 'Required comment fields'.

Am I looking in the wrong place?

Comment notification email question

I have Serendipity set so I receive email notification when comments are left. I do not use moderation but I do have the Captchas enabled.

Here's my problem. Serendipity, as is, does not require an email address be typed into the comments form page in order for a comment to be posted, but, if the ...
