Hi...I'm sorry, but I've found a virus named Obfuscated in plugins\QuickTag\tag-lib.js (AVG Antivirus). Can I safely upgrade serendipity 1.5.5 after the virus elimination?

Hi! Your problem is not PHP5, but the new configuration. your old PHP4 did not use open_basedir restrictions, but you enabled them with PHP5. Just for notice...
I uninstalled Spartacus and now the whole stuff seems to work...I don't know why, but the problem seemed to be Spartacus itself
