Re: mod_rewrite and 404

SEO-wise, wouldn't having content on a page be better than not having it? From my research, and what those particular clients tell me, is that no content IS better than having duplicate content. Not positive though on that though. Either way, sounds like disabling mod_rewrite on my s9y blog would b...

Re: mod_rewrite and 404

In which regard is this behavior a problem? In the regard that the 404 Page isn't doing it's job anymore. Totally read to let this go, just curious is all. Rant ensuing... It has been brought up on more than one occasion in my experience when using rewrites. One of my s9y setups did have a bout wit...

Re: mod_rewrite and 404

Yes, this is a fallback because s9y detects the Category URL and sets the parameters to that category. This is a feature, actually - you can't really disable that, it's wired deep in the code. It would be nice (more of a feature) if the requested URL was cleansed, and maybe checked against the actu...

mod_rewrite and 404

Why is that when mod_rewrite is enabled, you end up losing your 404 on stuff like: blog/1-Category/this/directory/does/not/exist.html It simply loads up the '1-Category' page like all of those '/' don't even exist. I mean, they don't, but it isn't a category, or a post, or even a page. So can't this...

Re: Still Looping

So check your references to the "css/print"... structure and make sure it always uses /path/to/css/print from the root of your web. It was "css/main.css" and now it is using "/css/main.css" I also added a <base> meta tag with my base URL, so we'll see if the combinatio...

Still Looping

Okay, so my titles/metatags have been working great, and have been implemented using a better technique. However, I'm still noticing that every couple weeks or so a referrer bot slams my site and my stats just list thousands of looping rewrite URLs. I have reset my .htaccess file to the default for ...

I mean, with the way the rewrite is, I don't think that will drop somebody off at the 404 destination. Wouldn't me putting the "&title" at the end simply just make it so that I could $_REQUEST the page, only if called by name? Or is it just that this particular spambot is making rando...

Okay, wrangled my main site template a bit so that I have a opening header function, and a closing footer function. Then I just registered them both with a config.inc.php file in my template's directory. I called the header just before the output of the blog content in the index.tpl, and then call t...

Re: Embedded Blog and .htaccess Looping

This is why s9y has a templating system. Simply edit the index.tpl of your template and put the variable {$entry.title} at the place where you want it. Or install the s9y "meta tags" event plugin. I think that I'm going to rethink the way in which the blog is embedded. Rather than pull a ...

Embedded Blog and .htaccess Looping

Albeit, the looping part is of my own creation. Since I'm using .htaccess and mod_rewrite to create the pages for the blog, I thought I'd be really sneaky and use it to my advantage to pull the blog entry titles out of .htaccess and plug them into the meta title head of my website template (the shel...

Green Groove Unite!

Used the 'serendipity_wrapper' technique to nest our s9y installation into our php application. There was quite a bit of other specifics that needed customized too, but I'm not complaining.

Check it out, help save the planet while you are there ;)

StaticPages Validation Error

Hello, It was brought to my attention that when performing "Quicksearch" an HTML validation error would be generated if 0 static pages existed, and the static pages plugin was installed. Quick Fix: In the "plugin_staticpage_searchresults.tpl" file, change the following: <ul class...

got it!

Thanks for the help. It's working now. I had tried with the "Perform Markup Transformations" set to both "No" and "Yes" with no luck. I had been a little confused whether it meant yes it was enabled, or yes it was not enabled. I'm tired. Anyway, thank you for confirming I did get it to work though, ...

Thanks for helping! Yes, it looks like I have everything configured correctly. Smarty in Static Contents

Hello, I'm trying to use Smarty markup in my static pages "content" section. That is, place Smarty markup in the content editor box via the admin panel and have it be parsed. I tried the Smarty_markup plugin and had all the right boxes checked, it just wouldn't work. It would only print out my Smart...
