I can see there are too many database changes so I will do an upgrade on my old system first.

I have this script, is it the one you are using i tried both methods and it wont let me in , and i can see the value changed in the database.

I am getting closer , I think the new version has some config changes to serendipity_config in the database which makes it incompatible from what I can see. I finally got the upgrade thing to work, by temporary removing the htaccess file and changing the line $serendipity['versionInstalled'] = '1.1.3'; to reflect my current version, I dont know why but this was not unzipped properly the first time round so it didnt overwrite, thanks for your help earlie...

I did overwite the old with the new replacing files, not even an install screen, it just tried to start to work, and why would it kick into upgrade mode ?
