Thanks for the feedback on that and great to hear.
To be honest, I still haven't upgraded yet, because now knowing what to do, it is not that hard to fix the problem if it occurs again.
But that certainly gives me more confidence to now do it.

Re: Database error after installing SSL
Glad it helped!
There is a more recent version 2.1.1 that has been released and I would think that from the comments by Onli above, the problem should have been addressed with it. But I do not see anything specific in the release notes.

Re: Database error after installing SSL
*** ISSUE SOLVED *** Just a quick tag and summary for anyone who may have this issue in the future and, as I was, be a bit slower to pick up the terminology with 'auto-completion' as used above. The term 'auto-completion', to me, means an instance where you have entered a text area and begin to type...

Re: Database error after installing SSL
I will definitely keep an eye out for 2.1 and upgrade immediately, as it seems like the problem does persist in 2.0.5 whenever the configuration page is opened and saved.
(Just for the record, I am using a Mac and Safari)
Thanks again

Re: Database error after installing SSL
Thanks mate, there are a few beers waiting here for you if you want to come and get them. :P :P But with all the new installations crashing, I would guess that the bug still exists in 2.0.5. At least if it happens again, I know the first place to look. I didn't think that I had manually changed the ...

Re: Database error after installing SSL
Thank you wise old man.  I have had a good night's sleep and feel a lot better. I must have been so close with that second 'working' blog that crashed after I changed the path to 'https:' As you suggested above, I went back into the serendipitipy_config_local.inc.php and yep, the database...

Re: Database error after installing SSL
   It all sounded like a plan, but no matter what I try to do it continually crash's and burns. I have just one 'working' blog left which is one of the old 2.0.1 ones and it is the only one where I was able to fully update the path in the admin file to "https:" without it cr...

Re: Database error after installing SSL
*** UPDATE *** OK, so I am still learning here a little, so please bear with me. It turns out that the passwords that I thought were encrypted actually are the database passwords that were created on installation by the installation software. So they do agree in the new installations. (Which still d...

Re: Database error after installing SSL
That's an interesting question about the password and the serendipity_config_local.inc.php file. I am still going through it, but have found something interesting that I thought I would quickly bounce off you. When I look at my old installations (before I moved to ssl), their serendipity_config_loca...

Re: Database error after installing SSL
Hi Onli, great to hear from you again and trust that all is going well for you. I started a nice informative reply to you yesterday, finished it off tonite, went to save it and got kicked out because I was no longer logged in and lost the lot!!  Seems I can't win a trick at the moment, bu...

Database error after installing SSL
Hi, I have just moved my site to SSL and have all my pages working fine and are secure after changing all the links to 'https:' from 'http:'. My blogs also worked fine up to this time, except once the move to SSL the pages were not rendering correctly and like the other pages on my site did start re...

Re: Clean Blog - a fully responsive, mobile 1st s9y theme
People are trying to help you here Fabien and are trying to get an exact hold of the best option to suit your needs. Again, if you are totally set on a sidebar there is no reason why one cannot be incorporated into your page using Bootstrap and therefore be fully responsive. It may not be fully cons...

Re: Clean Blog - a fully responsive, mobile 1st s9y theme
Are you looking for a blog then, or a forum?Fabien wrote:"If that is a community of regular visitors that discusses frequently with each other, things might be different."
It's that sort of community.
It seems that a blog may not be the right thing for that.

Re: Clean Blog - a fully responsive, mobile 1st s9y theme
I have to agree. If someone is a regular on the site they can be advised of new comments by subscribing to the post. If it is a new visitor, surely they would initially be more interested in the post itself rather than the comments. Isn't it more important on that basis to be able to search the blog...

Re: Clean Blog - a fully responsive, mobile 1st s9y theme
Hi Fabien, As with this s9y site, there should be the opportunity for a person to "subscribe" to the post, so that they are eMailed and advised of new comments. Plus they are usually in date/time order, so it is not that hard for someone to pick up on comments on any particular post where ...
