0.7.1 posts not displayed and search not working

Post by erichiseli »

Hello Forum and Developers,

I've just installed s9y 0.7.1 and found either 2 bugs or 2 things that are not transparent and user-friendly.

first: if I search for something, using the search field on the homepage, I get:
Your search for xxxxxx returned 1 results:
No entries to print.

At this point, I'd like to see at least a link to the entry that has been found.

second: after creating the main user, I added another user. His post, however, never came up. He has the right "1" and also the right to publish. I even increased the right to "255", but that didn't change anything. As the main admin, I also didn't find any post to "approve" or the like.

About your second issue: Are you sure the post was saved? When you click on 'edit entries' is that entry there? And it was saved as 'publish' state and not in 'draft' mode? And the date for the entry is not in the future?

Duh... That was it. The problem is, my server is in another timezone than me. And I manually changed the time...

So here come my suggestions on improving usability:

1) mark messages which are in the future as such (different layout, comment in brackets "scheduled to be posted on... at...")

2) give an option to globally set the timezone. And this on a very transparent way like
"Your server time is 12:00 AM, what time is it at your end? [12:00 AM |v] [x] Daylight savings active

Hi!

Your first suggestion just got implemented in CVS. We now display a clock icon for those entries :)

The second one has already been implemented in 0.8 snapshots a few weeks ago. :-)

However we're just offering a "enter amount of hours difference from your time to server time". We'll see how (technically) we can improve this setting since we configure that in a unified system and currently cannot make differences for certain settings.

Garvin

Where is this setting found. I'm sure i am missing it somewhere obvious but I can't find it. Somehow my clock is off and it's very annoying.

Serendipity >= 0.8-alpha3 or so, Configuration section "Display settings" (or something like that)

Thanks that did it. A suggestion, since at this line you set the difference between the webserver and you it would be helpful to display the webserver time (i.e. 0 difference) so that a person knows what number to use if they are unsure of the webserver time to set their time right.

Thanks for the suggestion, I put it on the Bugs tracker on SF.Net and try to take care of it.
