in latest CVS version of 0.7beta3 there is a codepage problem when importing articles with RSS import. Look at my test install at http://venus.homelinux.com/s9ycvs/ (its my dsl homeserver, please do not slashdot ;) ) all articles but the first one were imported from 3 other blogs (sebbi, thomas, ich) and all have codepage problems so that german umlauts are not displayed properly.

I have posted the first article from admin area and its okay, so its a problem with RSS import

Hm, yes - all the entries seem to be in utf8 format. I have just created this patch:

http://supergarv.hn.org/cvs/serendipity/rss.patch

Could you please try that out and report, if it fixes your problem?

Thanks,
Garvin.

ok that worked :)

BTW: I had to apply the patch by hand, because "patch" rejected the file and couldn't apply it automatically.

Hello there,

the link doesn't seem to work anymore? I would like to try this patch too...

the patch is included in Serendipity 0.8, or maybe even in 0.7.1...

Garvin

Sorry for my posting as "guest",

i have the 0.71 running here and the standard plugin doesn't give me any äöü. Can I use the plugin out of the cvs with my 0.71 or would that cause any problems?

I think you can run the plugin then in 0.7.1. You can try it, but then you need to copy over the latest bundled-liby/Onyx directory from 0.8 as well. If you try it, please tell me if it works. I'm 66% sure it would work ;)

Regards,
Garvin.
