User permissions

Post by hepsebah »

I just installed Serendipity (a very easy process -- thanks for the great job on the install package) and so far everything is great. I'm a little confused about user levels, however.
I read the documentation on http://www.s9y.org/Documentation/UserManagement about the various user levels, and it indicates that a 0-level user can't manage all categories but can manage public categories and private categories. I get that the latter means their private categories only, but when I logged in as a zero level user, I could see all existing categories when I went to manage categories. I couldn't type anything in the boxes, but I think it would make more sense if the categories I couldn't edit didn't show in my choices at all. Was I getting proper behavior, or is there something I need to tweak?

Also, I'd like to create users who can post entries, comments, etc., and create their own categories, but not modify public categories. Consider this a request for a future release. :)
