Hello!

Due to the massive spam attacks in the last few days, we have decided to make posting to the forums only possible for registered users.

We hate to require this, but Spammers leave us no chance.

Registering is free and easy, please do so when asking for help here!

Best regards,
Garvin

I find it also unfortunate, which one must seize to such measures. That is now natural for the disadvantage of the people, which used this function really meaningfully.

Because, such measures must one evenly give and I find that not particularly bad, because (as you already said) registering is easily, free and without much expenditure of time.

Now also the problem is solved, which one postet as a guest, because one was expenditure-logged. ;)

Sad, but necessary, we cannot allow spammers to ruin what is fast becoming more than just an essential resource for s9y users, this is also our community, we make friends through these boards, spammers are like gate-crashers, they don't care about us, the bling or the hack is more important.

To all guests, don't be afraid to register, I view my privacy very seriously, and can confirm that your personal details are not shared outside of these forums, and it is possible to register a username without making your blog or email address publicly visible.

Cheers
Carl

Funny cause I was just looking at phpbb spam-mods. Seems some of the fairly simple anti-bot mods are now obsolete and broken down. Actually one mod-maker said much spam today come not from bots but registered humans - humans in poor countries are hired for this he claimed! In the end a hopeless battle then. Well, may be so but think registration should be enough for S9Y forum - at least until it overtakes Wordpress 8)

According to my experience there are more bots than humans anyway. Spamming with bots is very quick and pretty cheap too.
For those who runs a phpBB forums I have a tool to monitor your board's security: free phpBB anti spam check

I hates spammers, I remember one time off the coast of Microsoft, we were attack by a horde of spammers. Real unfriendly ones too. They came at us in the hundreds, they had viagra, poker, casnios, and more. Lost a few good comments on that sad day. T'was a black day indeed.

Ive got no truck with spammer, the likes of them should all be keelhauled more than once, I say!
