Hi,

I would like to temporarily disable comments on my blog. Is it possible?

Thanks,
Fabien

Yes, there is the "Emergency comment shutdown" option in Spam Protector (serendipity_event_spamblock).
I am not sure this will work in Serendipity v.1.6, since I remember we had to fix this some years ago.

That should give you an idea to urgently upgrade your installation! :) First all Plugins, then Serendipity! (And please READ the upgrade installer notices, since there are some concerning template changes you need to do yourself! *)

Edit: *) And this http://board.s9y.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=19593, which is not documented in the installer upgrade notices.

If you are logged in, click on the yellow button, til version 1.7.8. "

"Back to the blog" and you will come to the startpage. Go into one entry and look down to the comment. - Do you see the term

"Kommentare für diesen Eintrag nicht mehr zulassen"?

With a klick to the linktext you block comments. The page reloads and the form field has gone. Same way for allowing comments again.

I would be very surprised if Fabien saw that term anywhere in his blog since it's in French.

In French, the term is “Ne pas autoriser de commentaires pour ce billet”, but it is probably more efficient to just lock down comments the way Ian suggested (Emergency comment shutdown).

Hi,

Thank you Czorneboh and yellowled for your answers.

I knew the option avalaible when editing an entry, but I want to disable ALL comments for a short period of time. So the spamblock plugin option is the solution.

"That should give you an idea to urgently upgrade your installation!"
I was waiting for 2.0.1 but it's probably not a good idea: I confirm that it doesn't work with 1.6.

Have a nice day!
Fabien

If you still want to wait you just need an update of the spamblock file, which is here from 1.7.8+ https://raw.githubusercontent.com/s9y/S ... mblock.php Copy and paste.
