Hm, the flickr photostream plugin - you mean the sidebar one? That would actually also be clientside javascript/flash and shouldn't really create fatal server errors.

I would still suggest to talk to the hoster to get the actual error entries, everything else is reading crystal balls...

yes, the flickr sidebar plugin:
flickr Photostream (serendipity_plugin_flickr)
After having removed that one (and everything else still on), the site works like a charm.

But you are right, I will try to follow your suggestions to get more error logs available.
