DeimHart: Easy Podcasting Plugin

Hi,

I installed the Easy Podcasting Plugin to the DeimHart blog and I managed to remove nearly all issues with the feed.

Close to perfect is not perfect and I need your advice with the rest.

http://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi? ... index.rss2

56 occurences for an issue mean that there is a general problem, probably with the plugin.

Any advice?

Thanks for your hints

Dirk

Hi!

Those are only warnings, not errors. I don't think those can be removed easily, because they also affect compatibility to other clients, or they want to use variables that s9y does not offer.

So I think your feed is fine - there should be no issues with it.

Regards,
Garvin

Unfortunately I got the message that the client Gpodder only sees two episodes.

There must be an error I did not find yet.

Ideas?

Dirk

Hi!

People using gPodder get the correct feed, when they delete the subscription and subscribe again.

This is not nice, but since it works that way, everything is good.

Cheers

I would, BTW, appreciate some kind of to-do-tutorial for switching to the revised version of the plugin. Any caveats/hazards to watch out for?

Short form: Install it and pray!

---
  • Install the plugin.
  • Configure it to show the player.
  • Add your stuff to iTunes XML markup
  • remove mp3 and ogg from any section and add it to HTML5 audio extensions
  • remove the flash player from HTML5 audio extensions (including <script> and </script>)
  • add a <br /> after </audio>
  • Check every article for links to audio files (we had mp3- and ogg-files)
  • Pay attention that the mp3 file is linked first, this will be the enclosure you see in the standard, iTunes compatible feed
Done!

Don't forget to inform you listeners that the feeds changed, in case you had several of them.

Cheers

Hi!

You should then enable the strict-RFC option in the global s9y configuration

Did that now. Thanks Garvin.

We will see with the download-figures how it goes.

Hi!

Okay, I'm excited how it turns out.

I'm on vacation the next 10 days, so if I don't reply to anything here, have that in mind :)

Regards,
Garvin
