Brief:
I would like to improve the backend for extremely unexperienced users - Who is interested in joining the "workshop"?
In detail:
I visited the re:publica conference in Berlin the week before and had a lot of wonderful talk with people about usability. Since im running this local free newspaper project http://kassel-zeitung.de/ I have a lot of users without any idea of posting or editing code, but good views on politics or social issues. Im not very familiar with programming, but have a lot of experience with usability. My wish is to allow publishing even for older people, who are quite afraid of any odd dialog box or pull own menue.
Some of my ideas:
- It may be cool to have certain items disabled in backend (edit date for example) when editing "new entries" depending on sort of user level.
- The workflow after saving an article could be improved: Saving the article an dialogue should show up asking whether to show an preview or continue editing or so.
- We urgently need an way to publish pictures easily: Upload anything in any size and have it resized, thumbnailed and included in the article at an fixed position (without leaving any ugly code visible, im thinking of using the "Custom Fields" at a fixed position in the entry body.
I think that it would be good to work on this issue together, achieving a good solution usable for the whole 'community' (uh, this word nearly is dead
Would You like to spend some time discussing these questions?
