Hi guys,
Congrats and thanks for getting so close to the final release of 2.0!! I've been looking forward to this.
Just for fun I did a fresh install of 2.0b3. The installation check detected write permission problems on a few directories (as I expected it would). I fixed those and continued along with the expert setup OK. Once I hit the "Finish" button it "looks" like it finished OK but there are errors about no write permissions for serendipity_config_local.inc.php. I know this is because the root install directory (serendipity) did not have write access by the web user. No problem, I can fix that but, novice users may not realize this is the problem and there is not a good indication of what's really going on. Just thought you might want to know that...
Thanks again for the upcoming new release and for all your efforts throughout the years!

Thanks!
So a check whether the web directory itself is writeable seems to be missing?

Re: 2.0 New Installation Check...
We had it disabled in the code, but I wonder why. It's been like this since 2006 though.
I readded the check for is_writable...

Haha! I just realized I've been using S9Y since 2004 (a decade!). I'm surprised I never noticed it before now. It's been like this since 2006 though.
