Hi Jannis,

I am very new to serendipity software, and frankly, a little in over my head. I am persevering but need your help on one bit.

On my "About Me" static page:

http://heartful.supersized.org/pages/aboutme.html

it has some dead space at the top of the page under the template title. The dead space is a rectangular box with "about me" links in it (2 of them).

I queried Garvin about it in a different forum and he told me I could not change it in supersized. I am wanting to confirm that with you or see if possibly you might be able to fix this glitch on my page.

Thank you for your assistance on this matter.

Hi!

Did you check the original thread, Don indicated a possible solution to go with even for supersized-people?

And it would help if you gave the URL to that thread here, so that people can back-reference :)

Regards,
Garvin

Hey Garvin! Thanks for responding! I'm sorry, I didn't think to put the original thread. Good thinking. Here it is.

Oh, I totally missed Don's post. For some reason, I wasn't notified by email when his post hit. But I am so thankful you caught that. You are very astute.

I totally agree with Don: you guys are awesome. You are so quick to give help and to see it through. I am really pleased with Serendipity.

Anyway, Don's suggestion worked and I couldn't be happier!
Thanks and have a great day!

Hi!

Great that it worked! :-)

I just, for the first time, had the chance to actually have a look at your blog. I love to see when people are actually only using Serendipity to serve a higher purpose - bringing their thoughts to the people, raising their voice, writing. That's the reason I spend all the effort on s9y, to be able to make other people happy. I'm glad it seems to be working out for you, and I hope you'll hugely enjoy writing on your blog.

Can you tell me what brought you to Serendipity, which were the reasons you picked it over other freely available blogging tools? I'm asking this, because I believe you're the target audience group that Serendipity is least known on, and I'd like to improve that situation. :-)

Many s9y users are quite technical, which is partially the reason why "us techies" tend to forget about simple stuff for users that are using a blog merely as a tool, and not the goal itself...

Best regards,
Garvin

Well, I'd be happy to tell how I arrived at your blogging platform.

When I decided I would like to try my hand at starting a blog, I knew I had to choose an engine. I remembered what someone had mentioned in passing quite some time ago when they had called their Wordpress blog "very clunky". That stuck in my mind, even though it has been over a year since that passing comment.

I decided to do a little internet research on reviews of blogging applications. Most free web hosting offers Wordpress and I had already determined to stay away from it if I could.

I Googled reviews of blogging platforms and found only raving reviews of Serendipity. Plus, I liked the name! Then I set about deciding on web hosting. After researching paid versus free, I settled upon free hosting while I get accutomed to the whole blogging experience and learned to set one up. Serendipity's website led me to Supersized. I checked out each option on the "Hosting Providers" page. Supersized looked easiest for me to tackle and most user friendly.

Then it led me to you on the forums page! Short story, really. I don't know if I am typical in that most people do the prior research before starting or not. But I very purposefully chose s9y.

So the good thing you had going for you was excellent s9y reviews all over the internet. I chose review sites at random and did not read anything negative about Serendipity on any one of them that I can remember.

Overall, I think s9y is user friendly. This being my very first blog, I have no prior experience to compare it with, but I have not been disappointed-- especially in the help I have received via the forums (you). i like having the template options as well. That was very helpful. I am only disappointed in my lack of computer knowledge. I have created websites before, but only through Network Solutions where they also have very user friendly templates. So simple things like locations, paths, etc.: I have not ever even had to set those kind of things up.

Thanks for checking out my humble blog. You are very passionate about your work, that is obvious. It shows through clearly.

Thanks again!
Jessica
