Thanks very much - that was the answer.
I still can't edit any of my own previous posts - they come up blank - but as a workaround I bring up a second instance of the blog and copy & paste the text from there.

Suddenly lost access to install script
Yesterday I managed to install s9y using my previous database and it work - the site was live. Today I found I could not edit any entries (all came up blank) so I ran the install script again to try to fix this. I made one change ("serendipity" to "c4909627") which must have been...

Re: How to specify database?
OK, thanks. It seems to be working now. I deleted the old version of s9y and increased my php version to 7.2 and the error has gone away. I'll continue with the installation and hope all goes well.

Re: How to specify database?
I've just realised the php version is wrong (7.0). I think this is why the installation script failed. But I had s9y working previously. Anything I can do?

How to specify database?
My s9y accidentally got deleted so I had to reinstall. My database is still on the server but I don't know how to specify it . The install procedure doesn't offer me a choice and its default is wrong. [Later] Actually I think the problem may arise because the php version is wrong (7.0). Any way to f...

Split long entries doesn't work
I've had this plugin installed for a long time but it has never worked and still doesn't. The inserted code is ignored. I have an up-to-date install of s9y.

Re: massive spam ... how do you handle this ?
I've found that the most effective anti-spam plug-in is spam:/challenge response. I ask a question whose answer is obvious to a human but not a spam bot, such as "Can elephants fly?" Since doing this I've only had one spam get through in about a year; before that I was getting flooded from...

Re: Deleted user still a login option
Thanks for your reply. I'm largely stuck with FF myself, for the reason of familiarity which you mention, although I'm having another look at Seamonkey.

Re: Deleted user still a login option
Yes, I do have autofill but for some reason FF currently doesn't show the relevant options for this or indeed for passwords/usernames. But I installed an addon which shows passwords/usernames and this allowed me to delete the relevant entry. As a matter of interest, which browser do you prefer? Ther...

Re: Deleted user still a login option
I think you are right. I do get a blank page; when I start to enter my username there I get the two possible usernames offered. This is with my usual browser (Firefox). When I tried with Dillo it didn't happen, so that confirms your idea that it comes from Firefox. I will look into this; sorry for t...

Deleted user still a login option
Some time ago I added a user who is now deleted. Said user still appears as an option in the login page. Not a major problem but is there a file I could edit to eliminate this? There is nothing in serendipity_admin.php.

Re: Long posts
Interesting - I hadn't thought of that. I tried to use the entrysplit plugin for this but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Re: Edited material disappears when Save is clicked
I upgraded S9y at the weekend and so far editing seems to be OK. I haven't enabled autosave, however.
I take your point about the default behaviour not being specific to S9y; I've no idea what specificies it.

Re: Edited material disappears when Save is clicked
It looks as if the "default behaviour" is what is doing this. But how long is too long? It would be useful if it were configurable. The reason I queried Autosave is that when I made a Test post just now and saved it, the text I'd written there appeared in the next New entry. After turning ...

Re: Edited material disappears when Save is clicked
I'm not using the autosave plugin - just the builtin autosave. I don't use the WYSIWYG editor. No error messages that I've seen. If I keep saving the text frequently it's OK. If I stop to think too long and then click Save, the entry I've been working on disappears (I don't see "Your entry has ...
